That week, what the body wants is warmth and slowness
Around her period, the body can't take deep pressure: a dragging lower belly, an aching lower back, skin more sensitive than usual. That week's session follows a completely different logic — feet soaking first, the water carrying a hint of ginger's warmth; then warm palms opening the waist and back slowly, pressure held to sixty percent of usual, the point being to warm, not to press through. Hot towels rotate onto the lower belly and back, replaced the moment they cool, the heat seeping in wave after wave until the heaviness retreats into the background.
The scent changes too: nothing too sweet or strong, a gentle woody note with a faint floral, the room set one degree warmer than usual, the blanket warmed in advance. Wrapped inside it, she only has to breathe along; everything else is done slowly, by hand.
Her file should remember her cycle
Alongside pressure and scent, her preference file holds her cycle's rhythm: when scheduling, the concierge will keep the heavy sessions away from those days on her own initiative, or ask ahead whether to swap to the gentle one. Being thought of in this way — without having to explain herself each time — is the most restful part of a maintenance arrangement.
Four weeks in a month, four different states: the light session after her period, the full session at her peak, the deep-pressure session in a busy week, the gentle session before it. The program follows the body, instead of the body accommodating the package — that unremarkable rotation is exactly how a state gets held steady.
